Spillbox Datacenter Bursting
There are number of companies that have traditional Datacenters at different location and use them for large computational workloads. However, during peak demand users are not able to utilize the additional compute resources available in the remote Datacenter(s) to run their applications because the data required to run those applications are not available in the remote datacenter. It is also not easy to identify the data that must be moved to execute those workloads and copying all the data results in duplication, syncing and coherency issues between the different Datacenters. This product is also suitable for bursting in Cloud where customers create a Datacenter in Cloud inside their Cloud VPN.
Spillbox solution is software based and dynamically creates an overlay infrastructure that enables petabytes of data residing in the local Datacenter to become instantly visible to the existing Remote Datacenter. This combined with end-to-end solution by Spillbox instantly enables application to be run on both local and remote datacenter simultaneously. Remote job hooks onto the existing Job Manager of the remote Datacenter, and it does not need any privileged access. Once the initial setup is done by IT, the user does not need any further IT or DevOps support to run part of the workload locally and send additional workload to remote location(s). As the application executes in the remote Datacenter, the data from local Datacenter is automatically moved to remote Datacenter by Spillbox. Spillbox moves only those data to remote which are absolutely needed by the application.
There is no bottleneck due to single central server and can start bursting on remote datacenters in just few minutes. Details related to what a user asks IT to do is available in the following location https://spillbox.io/spillbox-products.
Irrespective of where the job is run by Spillbox ( locally or bursted on remote Datacenter) Spillbox’s patented technology enables Spillbox to run the same job faster than customer’s current local run. There are some performance results using industry standard tools to demonstrate this.
Spillbox extends the Cloud “bursting” concept to Remote Datacenters Bursting, and by allowing “mix-and-match” combinations of Datacenter and Cloud resources, it supports dynamic aggregation of compute resources.
